World Book and Copyright Day 2019

Coming into contact with a good book and possessing it, is indeed an everlasting enrichment: Dr A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.

According to Dr. A. P. J. Kalam, education means to learn, to earn and develop concern with our families, societies and nation for their progress and welfare. He visualizes one integrated system of education, system of learning and system of knowledge. He believes that Strength is developed through acquisition of knowledge and preparing for every eventuality. According to Dr. Kalam, Education cannot be a business product or a system.

As per World Book Day, popularly known as ‘World Book and Copyright Day’, is an annual event organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to promote reading, publishing, and copyright etc. It was a natural choice for UNESCO’s General Conference, held in Paris in 1995, and continues to be recognized on that day. While the same event in  United Kingdom and Ireland is observed in March.

Further, To pay a tribute to authors on the same day, encouraging people to access books most beautiful invention for sharing information, ideas beyond the boundaries of humanity space and time as well as the most powerful forces of poverty eradication and peace building. Notably, The 24th edition of World Book and Copyright Day will celebrate literature and reading while focusing particularly on the importance of enhancing and protecting ‘Indigenous languages’.

Each year, UNESCO including the related international organizations representing the major sectors of the ‘book industry’ such as publishers, booksellers and libraries, select the World Book Capital for a one-year period, effective 23 April each year.

Meanwhile, “In these turbulent times, books embody the diversity of human ingenuity, giving shape to the wealth of human experience, expressing the search for meaning and expression we all share, that drive all societies forward. Books help weave humanity together as a single family, holding a past in common, a history and heritage, to craft a destiny that is shared, where all voices are heard in the great chorus of human aspiration.” Officially mentioned, Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO.

A book communicates good knowledge and wisdom, book reminds us that “The more you read, the more well-read you are”.

Significantly, Books are a symbol of knowledge, emotions and the very reason for human wisdom. Thus, It plays an significant role in our present life. So we have to read more books “OFFLINE”, while in the age of modern technology “ONLINE” readings are booming. Greatly, classics increase our standard of living style. And they tone up our intellectual taste which build our outlook broad.

“When we open a book, we open a new globe”. Large number of people would agree with such statement as books have become inevitable to mankind. Hence, The day is a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and most importantly reading.

You can say that, “A book is a good friend, teacher, father, mother, brother/sister because it gives you everything what it has and expects nothing in return”. It provides alternate life experiences, realities, case studies, writings, etc. As per study, Reading a book makes people more human. A good book provides us a chance to live another life which we can’t have physically but in imagination we can be anything.

Reading books enhances not only the grammar, but also broadens the horizons of knowledge in order to empowerment, thereby enriching the inner world of a person. As per result, well readers can effectively communicate (both oral and written) with others.  Hence, reading is the perfect things and we are sure that a huge number of person would agree about the same. By reading books, you can expose yourself to new things, new facts, data, new information, new ideas, new research and new ways to cycle or fix the top-up menace, and new path to achieve a goal. Every Exploration begins from reading and understanding so please read, understand and then write.
